My topic

Our Topic for final video is "Daily life of life science student".

I suggested this topic to my friend who is same major with me.

My purpose for this video is to show "Hard life of life science major student".

In general, technology major is regarded as hard major, But I wanted to show life science specific hard life to people.

Anyway, our group has two teammate, My friend Minkyu and Me.

We'll show up on the video as actors. When I am acting, Minkyu will film it, and vice versa.

Editing is responsible for both Minkyu and Me.

There will be some extra actors as well.

This video's mood will be humorous and sad.

Since this video is documentary, we'll going to benchmark '다큐3일'-very famous documentary in Korea.

Rough outline of the project is like this

1. Brief introduction About life science - using video

2. Meet the student, and ask for filming

3. film until actor enter the studyroom

4. lecture

5. lunch+ preparing report +(interview)

6. lecture

7. End of lecture - Most of students return to their home, but actor cannot - showing Hanyang station, Compare actor(go to study Room again) and other student(return to their home)

8.laboratory

9.studyroom again

10.returen to his home (showing lighted natural science building)

11.home + interview

location will be our college, natural science department building, and we are trying to show you our laboratory and classroom.

I hope this project to be fun!

5 impressive pictures to me

He is korean soccer hero Cha Bumkeun. He was so nice that even he performed cover model of French soccer magazine once. When I see this picture, I want to be like him who makes our nation more famous than yesterday.

John Gurdon, Novel physiology and medicine prize winner, is receiving his prize. This picture is one of the best encouragement for me. I hope to be there someday. 

Ahn Hyunsoo, Golden prize winner of short track, as a Russian. He was Korean like me, but he changed his nation because of political faction in Korea. I think He is the best athlete of short track in the world, but we lost him

This is trophy of UEFA Champions league. Champions league is one of the best event of Soccer, and This picture makes me excited because I anticipate this event. In fact I watched the game REAL MADRID vs BAYERN MUNCHEN Which is semi-final of Champions league last dawn.

SEWAL ship disaster. Many people died or lost because of incompetent captain and sailors. Nevertheless there were enough time to rescue the people inside the ship, inappropriate handle makes situation worse. 

Animal experiment, does it need or not?

Animal experimentation is experimentation or scientific process which uses animals as experimental materials. Purposes of Animal experimentation are education, test, research, biological material synthesis and so many other things. It is thought that about 0.3 billion experimental animals are used in all over the world every year, and unfortunately most of used animal is killed after experimentation is over. From the past, many scientists, doctors, even philosophers, used experimental animals. Purposes of their works were just curiosity, testing the treatment, and many other purposes. Recently, even law that obligate the animal experimentation was legislated after thalidomide tragedy(Thalidomide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

Thalidomide tragedy – Thalidomide was drug for the pregnant and was approved as safe drugs through animal experimentation, but many side effect was revealed thorough newborn infant.

You guys can think that why animal is needed in experimentation, but many supporters of animal experimentation insist that progression of medical science and life science in 20^th century is thanks to animal experimentation. They say there is nothing that can mimic the living cell, living tissue, living organ, and living organism. They insist only organism can mimic the organism. In fact, the truth that we have received a lot from animal experimentation is undeniable. For example, in 1922 Insulin was isolated from dogs and this recruited revolution of diabetes treatment.

Isolation of Insulin through animal experimentation was revolutionary treatment for diabetes patients.

In some organization, they insist that animal has essential right not to be used in animal experimentation. Furthermore, humans and animals(except human) are quite different, so datas from animal sometimes can be useless. For examples. Drug named Clioquinol passed the animal experimentation in 1976, and was approved as a safe drug. However, after Clioquinol on market, about 10 thousands of people experienced deafness, paralyzed limbs, even some died.

I think animal experimentation is inevitable steps for research of biological, medical fields. So I think animal experimentation should be go on. I wish new techniques which can be alternative solution instead of animal experimentation to be developed as soon as possible, but actually it is not easy. In laboratory, experimentation in tissue level cannot be performed without animal experimentation. No experimentation, no progression in science. To develop alternative technique, progression in science is requirement. Indeed, cell experimentation was developed few decades ago, and animal experimentation was partly reduced. This was product of scientific progression. although many animals were died before. Even though we cannot avoid animal experimentation now, as science advanced, someday we will be able to find alternative solution of animal experimentation.

Then what should we do to minimize the risk of animal of experimentation? I recommend, especially for ladies, to use animal experimentation free cosmetics! Because we cannot touch the area of scientists, Although we cannot save the mice in lab, but we can reduce the usage of the product which is experimented by animal. Indeed, many cosmetics are experimented by poor animal. However, these days, many experimentation free cosmetics are released. If demand for animal experimentation is reduced, naturally dying animals will be reduced as well. Fortunately, we can easily know what brand is animal experimentation free brand through internet.

Second video is about animal experimentation.

Evaluating my CURRENT(FROM THE START OF THIS SEMESTER) life

Today I'm going to evaluate my life from start of semester to now. I do this for better life.

First, In aspect of academic achievement, I think that I can give high score to myself(★★★★★). I have been concentrated in my course work, and in my spare time, I have studied in laboratory of immunology. I tired to be always busy. Every morning I commuted to school, and kept my seat. So, I think that my academic achivement of this semester is great.

Second, In aspect of time usage efficiency, I can't give full five stars, but four(★★★★☆). Although I tired not to make extra time, still there was extra time. When I use subway to commute college, I spend this time just listening to music. Repeated usage of mobile phone of mine is also problem. I think that about a hour is vaporizing. But I gave myself four stars because I tired to use my time efficiently, and Indeed I could make my time usage more efficient.

Third aspect is  health. In aspect of health, No more than One star(★☆☆☆☆). Primarilly, sleeping shortage. MY average sleeping time abou 5 Hours, and I cannot have break times even at weekend for some reasons, so my health is getting worth. Secondly, I can't do regular exercise because of report, major study, and so on. Fat in my abdomen is accumulating. Finally, no regular meal because of busy lab work and course work. Sometimes I eat 2 meals per day...It's so painful. Many reasons made score of health a one star.

Final aspect is entertainment, or pleasure in my life. I want to give score of 3stars(★★★☆☆). Mainly, I am very 'fit' to my major. I am always happy when I study my major or do my experiment in laboratory. However, there is obsession to high GPA. This makes me have no composure. I can't have hobby too Beacuse there is no time to enjoy my hobby.

On the Whole, my score is 13/20 stars, and about 65% of full score. This means that I need to raise the quality of mt life. At the end of semester I hope Quality of my life to be increased.

Animal Cells - Building Block of mankind!

2.nucleus, 9.mitochondria,
5 and 8. ER

Maybe you would be heard about 'the cell' at science class or TV. In fact, a cell is very enormous creatures in whole universe. I used the term 'creature' because a cell is living, and also has organs like ourselves. Today I am going to introduce about 'cell' and 'cell's organ' to you.

What is cell? As I mentioned, cell is 'Building block of mankind(in fact all organism.)' It means we are made of cells. humans contain about 100 trillion (10¹⁴) cells(1).





Then, what are in cell? There are many organs of cell. We called them 'organelle'. I will show you easy explanation about some important organelle, mitochondria, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum(ER), and cytoskeleton!

mitochondria

First, mitochondria are power plant of the cell. Mitochondria make energy with nutrition that we have eaten. Thanks to mitochondria, we can move, play, think, and so on!

Second, nucleus is storage place of our gene, and inheritance information. When we get our son or daughter, our informations in nucleus are transmitted to our babies. your face, heights, eye colors, all of these things are determined by informations in nucleus too!

ER

Third, endoplasmic reticulum, quite hard name, we call this organelle in short, ER. ER is street, avenue, highway in cell. Materials, molecules, and other metabolites are transported through ER.

cytoskeleton

Finally, cytoskeleton is bone of cell. Because of cytoskeleton, cells maintain their original shape.

hello! Welcome to eurieruihan blogs! 'eurieurihan' is meaning of 'enormous big'! I choose this term as my blog name because I want to be 'eurieurihan' person.

MY name is JoonHyuk Lee, living in Seoul, and I am junior student of Hanyang University, Wangsipri, Seoul, Korea. You can understand HYU as 'Korean Ivy league'. It's very nice and scholarly university. I am majoring in Lifescience, for easy term, biology. I choose this major because I have been interested in organism, cells, and other biological material since I learned biology at middle school. I am dreaming of being brilliant biologist and finding enormous biological, biochemical traits in organism, so i am planning to study hard untill I receive Ph.D degree. 

I love Fashion! I rarely drink, no smoking, but I relieve my stress through fashion. It doesn't mean that I am good at wearing, but I love wearing. 

I love soccer. It's My favorite sports. I love Wathcing, and playing, both of them. In addition, I am Biggest fan of C. Ronaldo. I always try to mimic his wonderful non spin kick, and his skill.

These days, I do weight training to be more fit. I was Really thin boys, but now It's better. I am welcome if you share me some tips for exercising!
